Detailed inspection and rehabilitation options for a slab-on-girder bridge on a major route in Nova Scotia
Salmon River Bridge, COL261, crossing over the Salmon River, is located on Highway 102 near Truro, Nova Scotia. This four- span slab-on-girder bridge was constructed in 1967 and comprises 43.5 m long steel plate girders with composite reinforced concrete deck slab, three reinforced concrete piers, abutments, and wingwalls.
In order to extend the service life of the structure, SHM carried out a full detailed inspection of the structure and prepared a report including rehabilitation options and cost estimates. SHM Canada also completed rehabilitation design and prepared tender-ready documents.
